The Morvan was the area of the Celts. Anywhere in the environment are still remains of their culture and of the Romans to visit such as les Fontaines Salées, (about 30 km). Here were the sacred springs of the Celts, salt water sources where still today water bubbles up.
The famous Basilica of Vézelay, Bazoches Castle, the picturesque Avalon and Chateau Chinon with its nice museums, are less than 35 km from the holiday home.
The Morvan has played an important role in the French resistance during the second world war. In Dun-les-Places (10 km) and Saint-Brisson (15 km) are museums that recall this period.
About 5 km from Champ de la Fontaine you find the Lac de Chaumecon, a large lake between the trees at Brassy. Slightly away are Lac de Settons (10 km) , Lac St-Agnan and Lac de Panneciere. Each with its own characteristics, atmosphere and activities, but all well worth a visit.
For each level of hiker are in the immediate proximity challenging hiking routes: through the hilly landscape with woods, lakes, rivers, picturesque villages. Several hiking trails start from the gite.
With two large lakes nearby numerous rivers and several fishing ponds, the region is a paradise for waterlovers. Those who love fishing, rafting, kayaking, sailing or swimming ... here it comes all the way.
With multiple MTB trails that pass in front of the gite, mountain bikers feel in heaven.
There are also facilities for quad riders and rock climbers.
